Interior design is fun for many reasons, and you can do so much with the littlest trinket or the most rustic flooring. However, sometimes it is nice to design a room with a style from years past. In this blog, I wanted to talk about the 2000’s classic contemporary style. The 2000’s classic contemporary style mixes the old with the new, or in other words mixing modern with contemporary. Just because the 2000’s deal with the latest technology and the internet, does not mean your home has to look so high-tech.
To get this style correct, you should use creamy neutrals colors with soft grey or mustard tones. The pairing of these colors helps create a warm feel to your room. You should focus on these colors as well when deciding the flooring so the walls and the flooring does not clash. The neutral colored flooring will help maintain the natural light, which is essential in a contemporary design.
Another big component of this design, is to you stripes. The stripes should not be wavy or zig-zag. They should just be linear stripes. Stripes have been a reoccurring trend in interior design and the fashion industry for years. Stripes add interest and splashes of color to the room, and you should incorporate the stripes with rugs, curtains, cushions, or throws.
Soft, cream leather sofas are great in a classic contemporary styled room. Also, using leather chairs or couches is a big trend during the 2000’s as well. The couch being a cream color fits into the color scheme for this design as well.
For the flooring, you should pick anything that looks like oak. The oak has warm light brown to mid-brown tones, which add a neutral and homely backdrop for the room. You want to use a flooring that keeps the natural light in the room, and something that will also makes the room look comfortable.
